Local Outreach:
Through our weekly outreach with Street Side Showers, we were able to meet various needs of the homeless community during a multi-church event 1n Plano, TX. We organized a dinner for about 25 to 30 homeless individuals. Alongside the meal, we shared a brief gospel message, which was well received. We also distributed sleeping bags and pillows to those in need.
Following up with some of the individuals who accepted the Lord that day, we met a family—a mother and her two children, a 14-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy. We learned that this family had been living in their car for nearly 18 months. Although the mother was employed, most of her earnings went toward fuel to run the car’s AC or heat during the night.
Once our team understood how dire their situation was, we stepped in to help. Scott and Jeanine Smith from Preston Trail Church in Frisco, TX were main drivers to the success of helping this family. After trying various shelters across North Texas with no success, generous donations came in. These contributions allowed us to house the family in a hotel for over three months and cover major car repairs so the mother could continue working. Today, this family is living in a beautiful area of Allen, TX, where they are renting a home. The children are now in a good position to attend school and have their needs met.
This outcome was made possible through the support, time, donations, and prayers of so many people. We give all the glory and honor to our Lord Jesus Christ, who heard every prayer and met every need along the way. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed, and this experience has refocused our efforts on finding more ways to assist those in desperate need. What makes this even more beautiful is that it’s a multi-church effort, with people from different ministries and congregations coming together to accomplish Kingdom work.
